With the support of Ihor Kramarenko, an online meeting between representatives of Zaporizhia region and the State of Hawaii was held on 16 January 2025. The event was dedicated to discussing opportunities for cooperation and agreeing on specific actions for further partnership. The main areas of future cooperation are energy and education.
The team of Zaporizhia Regional State Administration held an online meeting with representatives of the State of Hawaii. The head of the region, Ivan Fedorov, told the partners about the situation in the region and the challenges related to infrastructure restoration, support for internally displaced persons and the introduction of energy independence.
– We are interested in implementing joint projects in the energy sector, in particular using renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power. This will strengthen the energy independence of our frontline region, – said Ivan Fedorov.
Another important area of discussion was cooperation in education. They discussed educational exchanges, the creation of joint programs, and the promotion of cultural understanding through academic initiatives.
Greggor Ilagan, Vice Speaker of the Hawaii State House of Representatives, Alex Cornell du Houx, President of Elected Officials to Protect the Earth, Former State Representative, and Dr. Evgeniya Kopytsia, Professor at Oxford University and Ukraine Energy Secretary Marshall Plan, stressed the importance of expanding opportunities for young people and deepening contacts between universities and schools.
– Zaporizhia region is interested in building long-term partnerships with the state of Hawaii and working together to address global challenges. Today’s meeting is an important step towards expanding international cooperation, – ummed up Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhia Regional State Administration.
A graduate of the Professional Fellows Program, Ihor Kramarenko, who completed an internship in the United States, helped organise the event.
