On the initiative of the Professional Fellows Program alumnus Ihor Kramarenko, a meeting was organised on 02 August 2024 with the participation of Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych and Lauren Matsumoto (Leader of the State House of Representatives) of the State of Hawaii, USA.
This initiative is one of the important projects of cooperation between Ukrainian and US cities that our UA Communities initiative plans to implement.
This meeting had an introductory format to identify potential areas of cooperation.
The most relevant areas of potential cooperation were identified, namely:
- environmental protection;
- restoration of communities after military operations;
- development and protection of critical infrastructure (water supply, energy);
- educational projects, cooperation between universities.
The parties noted the importance of launching possible cooperation and agreed to organise a roundtable with representatives of the respective communities and stakeholders to discuss and identify concrete steps towards cooperation between the communities.
We are planning further cooperation!
